Best Tips to Wear a Perfect Fragrance in Summer

Summer heat? Bring in the ocean rage & rock that perfect summer fragrance.

Summer fragrance game is all about balancing the heat and keeping things subtle, cool, and, yes, blue with light, aquatic, zesty & bergamot infused fragrances. Think citrus, think delicate and smooth florals, freshly snipped minty leaves, squeezed lemon, and sweet & sour juicy summer fruits imbued with a splash of water – that is what summer fragrances are all about.

Let's get serious!

The summer season is entirely in full swing now and this season got us thinking about how we are going to wear our signature scent!  From making the most of a fragrance to selecting one perfectly suited for the season, we've got you covered at Shaikh Saeed Perfumes.

Summer is the time for outdoorsy adventures, beaches, cocktail parties, and those by-the-ocean fiestas! Your perfume needs to compliment your summer lifestyle, and it's essential to change scents depending upon the seasons as fragrances and temperature changes impact their overall performance, silage, and longevity. Heat causes a fragrance to disperse faster and project further. Due to this particular reason, if a scent is too powerful, it can become crushing for the nose in the summer times, so summer fragrances tend to be lighter and more refreshing than winter fragrances that are rich, compelling, and warm.

The Best Tips...

It's wise to choose EDT over EDP in the summers

Well, you don't want to go to that midday beach party with a strong and overly harsh heavy scent. Perfumers and fragrance connoisseurs worldwide recommend using the EDT (eau de toilette) instead of EDP (Eau de parfum) concertation during the summer.

Eau de parfum (EDP) has the 2nd highest concentration of fragrance after parfum or pure perfume concentration. EDP has a fragrance concentration of 15–20%, and on the overall average, the scent of EDP lasts for 10 to 12 hours on skin and 16 hours on clothing. The potent strength of the EDP makes it ideal for intimate occasions and date nights. On the contrary, Eau de toilette (EDT) is a frivolously scented fragrance, and it stands as the genuine forerunner of all perfume derivatives. EDT has 5–15% concentrated perfume oil and can last from 8 to 12 hours. EDT perfumes are cheaper as compared to their EDP counterparts.

Use your pulse points

In general, perfume wears best when applied to the base of the throat, wrists, or back of the neck, below your ears, and so forth as it's activated by heat, so the pulse points are your guide in summers. Keeping things on the subtle and natural side by adding a light spray of perfume to your shirt, scarf, bandana, polo, or vest when heading out can make all the difference. Just make sure not to go overboard. Remember, even if you can't smell your perfume after a few hours, that doesn't mean other people can't! There's usually no need to reapply perfume halfway through the day. Keep the people around you happy about your scent, not choked.

Choose citrus, aquatic, woody, or light floral notes

Citrus fruits like bergamot, lemon, and mandarin can do wonders for your body and are the ideal notes for your summer fragrances too. These fruit notes coupled with aldehydes, freshwater notes, marine accords are known to deliver the most intoxicating summer scents that leave that fresh and smooth trail that turns head around. If you are heading out to the mall or to the beach in the summertime and still want to smell irresistible, it's almost a rule of thumb to go for the citrus, woody, and floral aquatic notes as they tend to long-laster in summers. On the contrary, woody and musky notes last longer than other notes because they enhance the base notes' scent and provide long-lasting richness for up to 12 hours. These notes are more familiar with male fragrances, but you can also smell them in feminine fragrances.

Choose the blues!

There are thousands of blue fragrances on the market with quite similar scents. From various designer brands to niche brands, you can find a ton of blue fragrances on the market. These blue scents are usually fresh, oceanic, and mass-appealing, crowd-pleasing scents making them picture-perfect for the summertime.

Pick a summer fragrance with a singular note or just two notes

Go contemporary this summer with single or dual-note fragrances as they are sure to last long and be pleasant to the senses. During summer times, perfumes evaporate quicker because of the scorching sun and heat. If a fragrance has diverse and multiple notes and that perfume is exposed to the sun, this instilling of sweat and fragrance creates unpleasant smells. It's better to go for singular or dual-note fresher fragrances in the summers and put those multi-layered gems for wintertime.

Limit your choices and narrow them down!

Many fragrances are packaged so aesthetically and so perfectly that you just can't help but admire them. However, always remember that you can't judge a book by its cover and the same goes for fragrances. Even the perfume with the comeliest packaging you have ever seen might not be in accord with your persona and body chemistry. The magic lies in narrowing down the overall choices and test up to three to four scents at the max. Otherwise, you may not be able to decrypt the scents.
